But I don’t think that’s the most interesting development. Models have become so powerful that they’re not just writing code; they’re also becoming increasingly capable of using tools, planning multi-step tasks, recovering from errors, and managing their own workflows. After PHP2Shell, now this. 🤭 Calif just demonstrated iPhone compromise chains at Hexacon in Paris. The demos: • 1-click exploit via Signal • Exploit via iMessage — the app almost every iPhone user has • Persistence on the device ("Apple Persistent Threat") No CVEs or technical details yet — they say everything will be released in due time. PS: Calif is a cybersecurity and AI security firm that provides security and penetration testing services to AI giants such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI.

Today, we hacked what we'd set out to hack: the iPhone.
DeepInfer is an inference framework that powers DeepSeek’s own large-scale production services. Previously, they had mostly released individual kernels and libraries as open source (FlashMLA, DeepGEMM, DeepEP). Now, the engine itself—which brings these components together—has also been released as open source.

Hugging Face might not like this article. 🙂 The risks of open models are real. Once model weights are published, it’s hard to regain control. However, I don’t think it’s entirely accurate to say that closed models are automatically safe and open models are automatically dangerous. Let me give an example from my own experience: While working on cybersecurity and security measures, I’m able to easily get a lot of technical support from open models that I run locally via Pi—support I couldn’t get from Fable or Opus. Open models are particularly helpful when it comes to analyzing security scenarios, assessing potential vulnerabilities, and developing defensive measures. Anthropic's models can be quite frustrating during the stages of generating and testing attack scenarios. It’s essential to always have a trusted open model at your disposal. About

I am a senior software engineer at Netelsan in Ankara, working on backend and platform engineering for IP intercom, burglar alarm and smart-home products: WebRTC service infrastructure on AWS, observability with Prometheus and Grafana, and the automated release pipeline that feeds the production line.

I enjoy building things from scratch — network servers, parsers, CLI tools — and I care about the low-level details: memory management, concurrency, I/O protocols and performance tuning.

Before that, I was the sole engineer on a company-wide ERP for a Saudi contracting firm (Java, Spring Boot, React, Flutter), built mobile and fleet-tracking apps at Bitcraft, and started my career as a system and network engineer in the Turkish Naval Forces. I hold a BSc in Computer Engineering from Karadeniz Technical University.
